Content investment and production, internet-based distribution, IP merchandising and data services
connect with one another.
Ticketing and merchandising provide a stable base, while film and series content contributes
flexible upside.
Film is the foundation of our content business. We have participated in the production, distribution and promotion of more than 300 films, seven of which rank among the top 10 domestic films in China's box office history, and the aggregate box office of films we have produced has ranked first among private companies for seven consecutive years.
During the reporting period the Group adopted a more prudent and disciplined investment strategy, focusing on films with smaller budgets, lower risk and strong content quality, and concentrating resources on projects with greater certainty. The effect of this strategy has been validated in both box office performance and segment profit.
Live entertainment is the segment with the most stable cash flow and the most solid gross margin performance. Our Damai platform covers more than 40 sub-categories including film, concerts, music festivals, stage plays, stand-up comedy, exhibitions, sports events and cultural tourism experiences, having completed the strategic transition from a live ticketing platform to an all-category "real-world entertainment" platform.
During the reporting period the Damai platform served more than 400,000 live shows and provided professional on-site services for approximately 5,800 large-scale events, with the number of shows up around 50% year on year.
IP merchandising is an important extension of the post-content value chain and the fastest-growing business of the reporting period. Built around Alifish, the Group has created a distinctive "IP2B2C" full-chain business model: licensing premium IP from upstream rights holders and localising it for the China market, while providing downstream brands and channel merchants with a complete licensing solution.
Alifish is a leading IP licensing management and commercialisation platform in China, with partnerships covering hundreds of premium domestic and international IP as well as thousands of brands and channel merchants.
Series production was one of the fastest-growing businesses of the reporting period, with revenue more than doubling and segment profit up more than 100% year on year. Through an operating model based on dedicated series studios, the Group has increased investment in premium headline content and built a complete content production and development pipeline.
Our technology capability is not a standalone business but the infrastructure that links the content and ticketing chains together. It serves our own projects and is also open to the industry.
